Workshop details:
This course will provide participants with the techniques involved in creating stunning silk paintings and wearable art such as scarves and other pieces. You will learn about different types of silk and the preparation involved, the paints and resists used and how to create interesting effects. You will also learn elements of composition and batik techniques that will broaden your art skills and make your silk paintings more artistically effective. Course will focus on cold batik techniques, while short introduction and demonstration to hot batik will also be given.

Price: $375+HST = $423.75
Price includes the complete art kit (set of silk paints, resists, silk mounted onto frames and other materials necessary for creating complete works of art), retail cost of kit is $75. After the course kit could be used for creating beautiful paintings and decorating clothing pieces.

Hot Batik

This course will provide participants with the technique of hot batik, also known as hot wax technique. You will learn history and origination of this ancient art form. Course will cover the multi step process involved in creating complex hot batik paintings, tricks and methods, materials, tools and their uses. While creating hot batik paintings, this academically trained artist will teach elements of composition most suitable for this art form.

Introduction and History of Batik

This theoretical course covers a history of batik and textile, various techniques used in different countries around the world, evolution and present development.
